I was born in 1953 and unfortunately my childhood dream of becoming a zoo keeper did not materialise. So I created a substitute for myself at home.
Since my earliest youth I have been involved in the breeding of estrildid finches and in 1974 I became a member of a traditional Dresden bird breeding club and then also started breeding colour and posture canaries. Since 1985 I have been a trained judge for colour and posture canaries and finch hybrids; later also for cardueline finches and European birds.
I currently keep and breed Isabell Yellow and Satinet Yellow colour canaries, Lancashire posture canaries as well as Gouldian finchs and Red siskins.
You can find more information about me on Wikipedia.
Here are two Youtube reports about me and my breeding facilities:
By experimentally breeding almost all canaries colours, I have gained a comprehensive insight into the genetics of canaries. I find my own investigations into colouring, plumage structure and genetics very exciting and have published them in a few articles so that other interested bird lovers can also gain a deeper insight into the very fascinating world of bird breeding.
In recent years I have written several books and translated them into English, which you can buy in any bookshop. I would be delighted if you could send me your opinions, questions and suggestions.
